Fans/Blowers Design, Engineering and Manufacture of "Now-Generation" Fan, Blower and Pump Systems The Torrington strategic mission includes the development of AIR MOVING and THERMODYNAMIC technologies for appliance, automotive, aerospace and electronic markets. Either directly or through licensing agreements, Torrington offers world class designs for applications both home and abroad. A discussion of our capabilities and selected programs follows. Under a licensing agreement, Torrington designed engine cooling fan modules for the Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest. This design was responsible for saving $18.00 per vehicle and reducing weight by 4.5 pounds per vehicle. The strength of the Torrington technology allowed substitution of a single fan module for the twin fan unit Ford intended for the vehicle. The fan also required 20% less power. This program represents the multiple benefits often experienced using Torrington technologies. In another program, Torrington provided a major manufacturer of clothes driers 35% additional air flow capacity per application. The higher flow performance dramatically improved the rate of drying clothes. This modification was completed without increasing the dryer unit cost, noise or package size. The program was such a success that a second account was awarded to Torrington to redesign the entire air flow system for a new drier unit. Torrington's examples of application skill in air and thermal management programs:
We have a very successful track record in our served markets. Torrington's designs account for about $250 million of annual production volume from license partners and OEMs. Penetration of our market and continual growth required a move to a larger facility. This new facility allows for expansion of our design and testing laboratories as well as implementing manufacturing and assembly operations. Torrington has full service capability. Our world class design skills are supported by application engineering, rapid prototype modeling, short run production, testing and equipment assembly capabilities. |
